The book Sirat E Mustaqim was written by Shah Ismail Dehlvi (1779-1831), who was the grandson of Shah Waliullah Dehlawi (1703-1762), a famous Islamic scholar and reformer who revived the teachings of Islam in India. Shah Ismail Dehlvi joined the Tariqah-i-Muhammadiyah movement led by Syed Ahmad Barelvi (1786-1831), who aimed to purify Islam from Hindu customs, traditions, and cultural practices.
